I’ve been disappointed, thus far, at the lack of commemoration from the States, but the New York Times, at least, has an excellent sesquicentennial project: Running in its opinion section is a regular series called Disunion, wherein authors and scholars discuss interesting vignettes or events from the conflict.  I’ll be linking directly to those entries which interest me most, but the effort bears recognition on its own.
